Brunch in Austin

Mar 31, 16 • FeaturedComments Off on Brunch in Austin

If you’re anything like us, here at Mercury Hall, you are a little obsessed with brunch. Brunch is an amazing creation; a mixture of breakfast foods, lunch foods, and lots of Mimosas and Bloody Marys. It’s pretty dreamy and is usually, in one way or another, included in your wedding weekend plans.

Whether you’re having a bridal brunch the morning before or of your wedding or a family brunch the morning after your wedding, Austin has you covered. Here are our top 5 brunch spots South of the River or right Downtown.

1. Elizabeth Street CaféBreakfast: 8am-11am; Brunch (Sunday only): 8am- 2:30pm

A mix of a French bakery and a Vietnamese café, Elizabeth Street is the cutest restaurant for a Bridal Brunch. We personally love their Kouign Amann, Nutella and Banana Stuffed French Crepe, and their Crispy Pork Belly Bahn Mi.   Make a reservation for Sunday Brunch!

2. Café No SeBreakfast 7am-11am; Brunch (Sat-Sun) 10am-3pm

Located at the new South Congress Hotel, Café No Se will have you wishing you could lounge around all day reading fashion magazines and sipping lattes. Everything is fresh and delicious, but we recommend the Crispy Sunny Eggs and the Avocado Toast. There’s a large communal table and plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, just don’t forget to make a reservation!

3. South Congress CaféBrunch (Mon-Fri) 10am-4pm; (Sat-Sun) 8am-4pm

South Congress Café is one of the staples in Austin, pretty traditional brunch food and always really, really yummy. For your sweet taste buds go with the Carrot Cake French Toast, for your savory taste buds definitely order the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. This place gets packed on the weekends and parking is sometimes hard, so you’ll want to plan for this one!

4. Trace (at the W)Brunch (Sat-Sun) 11:30am-3:30pm

You’ll never feel cooler than when you’re at the W. Enjoy amazing farm to table dishes accompanied by a live DJ right in the heart of downtown. They have everything from Chicken Fried Quail & Waffles to the Lavaca Omelet with smoked brisket. They do downtown dining right.

5. TRIO (at the Four Seasons)Breakfast (Mon-Fri) 6:30-11am (Sat) 7am-11am

TRIO can be a bit more formal than the other options, but, boy do they know how to do breakfast foods – they never cease to amaze me. We love the Farmer’s Market Breakfast and the Quinoa Scramble (for the vegans out there!). Trio has a big buffet brunch on Sundays starting at 9:30, so I recommend avoiding that with a big group!

In honor of all this brunch talk, here’s a picture from one of our favorite brunch weddings from this past fall!   (Jessica Scott Photography, Gypsy Floral, and Contigo Catering made this one great wedding!)
